We currently have vacancies for working students/apprenticeships to work towards BHS examinations/NVQ or to further your training.

A chance to gain excellent industry experience. We are an established centre for over forty years, a BHS Centre of Excellence & an approved training and exam centre up BHSII. We are situated close to all the necessary amenities with major transport links into Central London and 5 mins walk from Oakwood tube station.

Volunteering at Trent Park Equestrian Centre is a great way of making friends, being around like-minded people and will give you the opportunity to spend time with horses and gain valuable knowledge and experience.

Additionally, each time you volunteer for either a full day or two half days you will receive a token for a group riding lesson appropriate to your level.

All volunteers are required to complete induction sessions before they start volunteering. Depending on your level of experience this may take a few sessions to complete. Your instructors will give you feedback when they feel you are ready. Once you are signed off to volunteer you will then be able to book in online to come for volunteer sessions.

The volunteer induction will give you the skills to:

• Follow Health and safety procedures including reporting any accidents/ incidents.

• Describe horses including colour, markings, gender, height

• Recognise/ identify school horses/ponies

• Name areas of the yard

• Basic yard work including mucking out, skipping out, filling haynets and water

buckets

• Put on a headcollar, lead and tie up a horse/ pony correctly

• Confidently tack up and un-tack horses and ponies including bridle, saddle,

martingale, or breastplate, crupper and daisy reins

  • Greet clients and assist them to get to lesson/ school with horse or pony
  • Assist riders to mount including giving a leg up
  • Adjust riders stirrups to correct length and tighten girth
  • Safely and confidently lead a mounted rider in walk and trot
  • Safely pick out horses/ponies feet
  • Put horse/ pony away, remove bridle, put on appropriate rug(s) and ensure welfare of horse or pony
  • Report any cuts/ girth galls, swelling etc. to appropriate person
